Introduction: Diosgenin is derived from the roots of dioscoreaceae monocotyledonous herbaceous twining vines, such as yam, zingiber, dioscorea seed, Dioscorea nipponica, etc. It is an important basic raw material for the production of hydrocortisone, prednisone, norethisterone, facile, dexamethasone and other steroid drugs.

These intermediates have important value in drug production.
