Introduction: 17 α- Hydroxyprogesterone, sometimes referred to as hydroxyprogesterone (OHP), is an endogenous progesterone steroid hormone similar to progesterone, and also a precursor of many endogenous steroid hormone biosynthesis, including androgens, estrogens, glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, as well as some neurosteroids.

Biological activity: 7-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) is an endogenous progesterone and a chemical intermediate in the biosynthesis of other steroid hormones.
